    Water heaters should be checked at least annually. They should be flushed
    out and check the anode rod for deterioration. These things can extend the
    life of your water heater. You should also have an Expansion Tank
    installed if you don't already have one. This can prevent a number of
    problems including leaking water  heater or relief valve, dripping faucets,
    possible flooding of your house .
